This necklace has one of my favourite ancient objects to work with- a Roman silver Lunula pendant. Representing the Moon, these pendants were often worn by young girls, but this shape is seen all over the classical world, and is an amulet as universal as the Moon herself.
This particular Lunula has a nice three-dimensional quality to it and a quirky charm from its centuries of age. I have combined it with ancient glass beads from many cultures, including Rome, in an array of patterns of stripes, swirls, zigzags, millefiore and eyes, along with silver spacers and my signature serpent hook clasp.
The eye beads, especially, bring an energy of protection, and with the cool Lunar energy of the silver Lunula, the whole piece is calming, centering, and strengthening.
