Granulated ring in Argentium silver and 18 karat gold, with a Victorian flower cameo. Paul gathered a nice collection of these Victorian flower cameos many years ago, and recently offered them to me to work with.
This little cameo is in a dark brown and white layered onyx, and it depicts a primrose. In the flower language of Victorian times, the primrose symbolized the optimism and all-consuming nature of young love, and to give one meant “I can’t live without you!”
This primrose is framed in delicate granulation work in rich 18 karat gold, in which each tiny sphere is placed individually, and then fused in place using only heat. The band is a stack of hammered and dots textures, very feminine and delicate but with interesting details.
