This very tactile necklace features an ancient silver Roman Lunula pendant. These pendants were often worn by young girls, but this shape is seen all over the classical world, and is an amulet as universal as the Moon herself. This one has granulated decoration that gives it dimension and interest, and a dark patina of the ages it has come through to be here now.
Above the Lunula there are ancient glass beads in a variety of shapes and colours, with many in Eye patterns, representing watchfulness that never rests, always protecting the wearer.
The black and yellow beads have a raised pattern of bumps similar to the Lunula, and I find this whole piece wonderful to feel and fidget with. I have added antique Ethiopian silver spacers and my signature serpent hook clasp to bring it all together.
