This exceptional little gold Lunula deserved an equally special necklace to show off its refined beauty. It’s a Roman pendant in high-karat gold, in a shape often worn by young girls, but also seen in many other ancient cultures as a universal symbol of the Moon’s energy. This one, being the metal of the Sun, unites the two polarities of our celestial sphere, Moon and Sun, together in dynamic balance.
The Lunula is combined with ancient Islamic glass beads which are also quite special. The gold ones are gold-lined glass, a specialty of the skilled glassblowers of the era, creating a luminous quality to them. The patterned beads are millefiore with colourful stripes and dots that resemble flowers or eyes. I have brought all these elements together with gold spacers and my signature serpent hook clasp in gold.
